Bicameral Mind

Programming, Unity

Created during the Global Game Jam 2017 in two sleepless nights by two of my friends and I. We spent the first few hours creating the color sharing mechanic of the game objects (which turned out to be neurons by the end). The underlying idea (for the mechanic) was that the networks in our brain that are used more often get reinforced and the others fade away over time.

The theme of the game (and the name), derived from Julian Jaynes's using "governmental bicameralism as a metaphor for a mental state in which the experiences and memories of the right hemisphere of the brain are transmitted to the left hemisphere via auditory hallucinations.", to which we associated the "devil and angel on the shoulders".

The cigarettes was the artist's idea.
